Leicester’s award-winning independent children’s publisher, Sweet Cherry Publishing, is proud to have appointed Emma Steel as the head of its brand-new, inclusive imprint, Every Cherry.
In her new role, Emma will play a pivotal part in shaping the vision of Every Cherry and driving its commitment to providing diverse and high-quality books specifically tailored for the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) community. With 17 years of special education experience under her belt, Emma will ensure that Every Cherry becomes the true beacon of representation and accessibility in books.
Sanjee de Silva, Publisher at Sweet Cherry, expresses excitement about Emma's appointment: "We are confident that Emma will bring invaluable insights and leadership to Every Cherry. Her dedication to promoting inclusivity aligns seamlessly with our vision for this groundbreaking imprint. Emma's role is instrumental in ensuring that Every Cherry is a place where all individuals, regardless of abilities, can discover and enjoy stories that resonate with them."
With the first line of Every Cherry titles reaching shelves in Spring 2024, Emma is equally as excited by this venture: “Every Cherry is such an exciting new imprint, and I’m thrilled to be managing it. I can’t wait to see how our launch range is received by the community! Watching children and young people with a wide range of learning disabilities read books in a way that suits them will not only be life-changing, but it’ll be a revolutionary step towards a fully inclusive publishing landscape.”
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Emma Steel on her appointment as the Head of Every Cherry and look forward to the innovative initiatives she will spearhead in this role.
